The practice has many names, but always involved the use of an open fire or controlled flame to char the wood before cooling, cleaning, and treating it with natural oils to create a dark visual style and unique tactile feel.
Pairing centuries-old techniques with new craftsmanship in our Cheshire workshops, our team engineered these square, 20mm/ ¾” thick panels to assure they are up to the high standards we set ourselves. A thick wear layer makes Hornblende a floor that can deal with modern-day challenges effectively and allows you to re-sand the antique Elm boards for years to come, keeping the floor looking intricate and beautiful as ever.
Squared panels combine a silvery-black finish with a traditional design for a Woodworks floor that’s striking and full of character. A modern twist on an age-old Japanese technique – Carbonised, including Hornblende, is based entirely on the ancient Japanese Yakisugi process.
Architectural details are available upon request and are made to complement the tonal values of your floor. Maintaining this floor is effortless with our Care System 1.
