A BRIEF HISTORY
In 1993, we began reclaiming old woods. Quickly, we built an excellent reputation for restoration – a process new to the industry. Unlike others, we didn’t just reclaim old woods, we also planed and sanded them. We added new tongue and grooves, and made them beautiful and easy to use.
In 1997, we decided to utilise the skills we’d learnt restoring old wood floors to new woods. This took us down the route of making new wide plank floors. It may seem grandiose to call this “revolutionary” – but it was! The world of wood floors was limited to 2” and 3” wide unfinished Oak and Maple. Our wide plank floors took the market by storm, and that became our focus.
By 2010, we were also making engineered wood floors, many of which were handmade and hand finished.
In 2013, we welcomed Victorian Woodworks (an antique and reclaimed wood specialist founded in 1988) into our family. They boasted excellent handcrafting skills, and we welcomed the refocus on old woods again.
As time moved on, it became clear that there was more distinction needed. As such we joined together the handcrafting team from Ted Todd with Victorian Woodworks and so… Woodworks by Ted Todd was born. Fast forward to 2023, a year that marks the 30th anniversary of Woodworks by Ted Todd’s founding.
Today, our time is spent creating extraordinary floors, which you will find within these pages. Floors whose complexity and precise design determines that they cannot be mass produced. A quality we continue to be as proud of as when we first started our journey.
