Every one of our Woodworks floors is restored and created by hand in our English workshops by our skilled artisans. Each floor passes through thousands and thousands of hands before completion in order to achieve the extraordinary.

THE BEAUTY OF ORIGINAL PATINA
An original patina cannot be manufactured, one will only appear over time as the wood is polished through the decades and centuries.
Patinas cannot be replicated either, but our artisans work tirelessly with the wood, hand polishing to accentuate and enhance their subtle beauty, without causing any of the distinctive natural features to fade away.

The elegant textures we craft are hard to find and even more difficult to restore. We polish with the wood’s natural movement to bring textures back to life.
We consider these undulating textures – which are a defining feature of antique and reclaimed floors.

ARTISAN SURFACES
AGED WOODS
We’ve crafted our Aged European Oak wood floors to purposefully embody all of the characteristics of our favorite antique woods. This is new wood that has been carefully aged over time, granting a traditionally elegant feel to your projects.
All of our Aged floors are slowly seasoned for 24 months before we begin any handcrafting. This important aging draws out the beautiful shape, texture, and movement that makes this oak so special. These textures are another key part of our house style and our efforts in bringing them to the fore are unmatched.

NEW WOODS
We have taken everything we have learnt over three decades of restoring and reclaiming old wood and translated it to new woods in order to create modern design statements.
These floors have extraordinary proportions, designs, textures and finishes and have engineered constructions suitable for modern life.
High in quality and designed to last, these thoughtfully designed wood floors are versatile, hard-wearing and enduring in their appeal. Not all new wood floors are created equal, and we make no apologies for the fact that our handcrafted floors are a cut above the competition.
SLOW CURED SPECIALIST FINISHES
Applied by hand and allowed to dry slowly in the air between coatings, finishing a Woodworks floor takes an incredible amount of time and patience.
These slowly cured finishes offer an incredible level of protection, meaning that your floor will last a lifetime within your project, regardless of footfall and activity.
The time taken to grant this durability can be excruciating, but the considerable effect it has on your flooring is more than worth it.
TRUE CRAFTMANSHIP
HAND POLISHED
Rather than apply a finish that alters the physical appearance of our antique and reclaimed wood, we choose to finish our floors to look traditionally authentic and in keeping with the original patina.
To protect the surface of the wood, we slowly polish it to a lustrous finish.
Unlike manmade flooring, our reclaimed floors have a lot of original shape and movement and as such, they demand to be finished by hand.
DELICATE HAND REPAIRS
Hand repairs are key to fully restoring antique and reclaimed timbers.
Within there are often spaces where beams would have been inserted, cracks from natural weathering, and manmade blemishes from a previous life – all of which we celebrate at Woodworks.
Our artisans use carefully cut wooden plugs and pegs to fill smaller holes, with larger restorations requiring a great amount of thought and care to achieve a fully restored floor.
We go far further than simply reclaiming and these repairs showcase exactly why Woodworks is the finest restorer of antique and reclaimed flooring in the world.
UNIQUE EDGE DETAILS
Hand rolled edges represent the ultimate expression of craftmanship.
Each corner and edge is carefully worked by hand, rolling a metal pin along each outer to create soft, aged edges. This edge detail gives a pillowed effect to each element, for the most natural movement across the entire floor.
The process is incredibly time consuming, but the aesthetic result is more than worth the effort put into every block and plank.
Woodworks create all manner of edge details, each of which designed and considered to complement the overall appearance of your floor.
HAND CUT DESIGNS
Our extraordinary Parquet de Versailles design is registered to Woodworks and cannot be found in any other floor, or anywhere else.
We hand cut the elements within our panels and are the only creators in the world to match each element from panel to panel.
These panels are crafted from the finest antique, reclaimed, aged, and new materials and are unmatched in quality.
CARBONISED – FLAMED WOODS
Yakisugi is the ancient Japanese technique of charring wood to produce deep, silvered tones.
The process is painstakingly intricate and requires the use of an open flame.
We were the first innovators to bring this technique to the United Kingdom combined with effective finishes.
This adds a distinctive colouring to the wood, whilst prolonging the life of the material, protecting it from fire, infestation and rot.
Grasping Yakisugi is incredibly challenging, but our artisans assure that each piece is carefully carbonised, with the results being statement masterpieces.
